The northern window reveals a "burning bush" of a different nature.  The dove and fiery flames descend upon Mary at Pentecost and spread throughout history to the inspired Evangelists of the four Gospels, the twelve apostles, and the great church councils, which formulated the creedal statements of the Catholic Church.

In Christian tradition Mary is that "burning bush" who, being set aglow by the power of the Holy Spirit, conceived without the loss of her virginity the "I Am" who revealed himself to Moses on Mount Sinai.  She becomes the new holy ground where God reveals His name and begins a new Exodus for God's chosen ones.  The Four Evangelists complement the four Major Prophets.

The Twelve Apostles, while chosen by Jesus to show a link to the Twelve Tribes of Israel, also correspond to the twelve Minor Prophets.  The twelve creedal statements found in the Apostle's Creed complement the "I Am" statements of Jesus himself. In this way, the two large transept windows complement one another.  For additional information about the origin of the Apostle's Creed, click here.
