MAY - MARY'S MONTH:  COME PRAY THE ROSARY on Saturdays and Wednesdays
Every Saturday there are two opportunities for SJN parishioners to pray one mystery of the Rosary together: in the morning, after the 8:00 am Mass, or late afternoon, at 5:30 pm, right before the 6 pm Mass.  During this month of May, there will be a weekly gathering to pray the Rosary in the SJN Rosary Garden located behind the school.  We will pray the Glorious Mysteries at 6:45 pm, after the 6:00 pm Mass.  The first Wednesday will be May 7.  Hope to see you there!

PENTECOST NOVENA - from 5/2 to 5/11
About a hundred years ago, Pope Leo XIII was inspired to call every Catholic Church in the world to pray nine days for the coming of the Spirit.  We pray this novena from the feast of the Ascension to Pentecost each year.  "I prayed this novena in 1975, and it was one of the greatest events of my life...I have compiled these Bible-based prayers for a new Pentecost.  If we pray these prayers sincerely, we will see the Spirit do more than we have ever asked or imagined (Eph 3:20)." Testimony by Fr. Al Lauer (entered eternal life October 13, 2007)

To be prayed for nine days, beginning Friday, May 2 for Pentecost Sunday - May 11

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and enkindle in us the fire of your love.  Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.  Lord, as the Spirit moved over the waters on the day of creation, breathe on me to receive the Spirit.  Father, may the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, instruct me in everything and remind me of all that Jesus told us. (Jn 14:26).

Spirit of Truth, make me true and faithful in all my relationships. (Jn 16:33)

Be the source of unity in my life. (Eph. 4:3)

Father, may the Spirit of the Lord rush upon me. (1 Sam. 10:6)

Jesus, thank you for giving Mary to me as my mother. (Jn 19:27)

Mary, spouse of the Spirit, as you prayed in the upper room for the first Pentecost, pray for me now. (Acts 1:14)

Let it be done to me according to God's word.

FORMING GOOD STEWARDS
"I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work you gave me to do" - John 17:4.  Jesus spoke these words as part of his prayer to the Father for his disciples at the Last Supper just before he went to the Garden of Gethsemane.  What was the work the Father had given Jesus to accomplish on earth to glorify Him?  Part of that work was to be a living, breathing, walking, talking example and model to show us how we can accomplish the work the Father has given to each of us to accomplish on this earth.  For each of us that work is different.  Each of us has received from God a vast array of talents, abilities and gifts that are unique; we each have a unique life experience.  It is precisely because we are unique that we must identify, accept, develop and be all that God creates us to be.  And we must share what God has given to us with others.  When we meet God face to face, will we be able to say, "I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work you gave me to do?"

The students made up the boxes on their last night of CCD.  The boxes, along with a $140.00 Wal-Mart gift card (for birthday presents) were delivered to Catholic Charities offices for use in the Columbus Home shelter.  Thanks to everyone who contributed.
