Troops of Saint George

Troops of Saint George, Troop 311, is a youth ministry of the Parish. Boys between the ages of 7 and 17 are eligible to register. Troop 311 has an ordained minister as its Chaplain. We are part of the National Troops of Saint George, Dallas, Texas, a 501(c)(3) organization. Troops of Saint George is a fraternal nonprofit apostolate for youth, men, and priests looking for a virtuous life of adventure. Initially founded in 2013, Troops do the following:

  • Foster Catholic teaching and morals
  • Teach our sons, or learn with them – archery, marksmanship, fishing, fire making, carpentry, cooking, and survival skills
  • Primitive ten camping
  • Frequent reception of the Sacraments
  • Prayer around the campfire

Specific Troop 311 Activities

We hold at least one meeting and one outing per month. Activities and outings include, but are not limited to: camp-outs, game nights, movie nights (lives of the saints), snow skiing/snowboarding, youth orchestra performances, formal dinners, and service to the Church. We pray for our seminarians and invite them to speak to the Troop at our meetings/outings.

Educational Approach

We provide –

  • A safe environment for the boys to learn life skills, to practice their faith, and to have fun.
  • A culture for scholarship, patriotism, and chivalry.
  • Opportunities for creative thinking and adventure.

The boys are equipped with the tools for healthy and virtuous living, and for serving and protecting others. The boys play an active role in determining, planning, and leading these activities under the supervision and coaching of their fathers.

Religious Practices

  • Pray the prayers of the Church
  • Encourage Eucharistic Adoration
  • Frequent reception of the Sacraments
  • Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Meetings and outings embrace the life of the Church by following the liturgical calendar.
