St. John Neumann has launched our own app for iPhone and Android smart phones. This will allow us to better communicate with you throughout the week and keep you updated with relevant parish news or updates. The app is very well designed and very intuitive. It is a great resource for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings, Catholic news and prayers, convenient prayer and Confession reminders, our bulletins and more. We hope for our app to be a tool for fostering stronger parish life and better engaging the New Evangelization.
“That Man is You!” is one of the country’s leading Catholic men’s programs sweeping across the Nation in over 700 parishes. “That Man is You” combines Scripture, solid secular research about the trends of our contemporary world, and a little fun to address the pressures and temptations facing men in our modern culture. The ministry’s goal is twofold. 1. Form authentic leaders who will be capable of transforming men, who in turn can transform their families and homes. 2. Provide Catholic men the tools they need to lead themselves and their families to live a life of virtue.
In the many slums scattered in and around Nairobi, Kenya, an innovative CRS project funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is harnessing the power of Catholic religious sisters to ensure an education for the youngest and most vulnerable children in communities with limited resources. This is just one prime example of how a CRS program, Strengthening the Capacity of Women Religious in Early Childhood Development, is helping nuns to better help others in their calling. SCORE-ECD trains the sisters in nutrition, the latest teaching techniques, financial accounting and even proposal writing to support their pervasive work as esteemed members of the communities that host them and of which they are an integral part.
A sister once trained, relays her knowledge to other sisters. No other force is quite as impressive as the dedication of sisters, but as one sister puts it, “the sisters are never enough.” SCORE-ECD is taking place throughout impoverished communities in urban and rural settings across Kenya, Malawi and Zambia, and it has been a resounding success because of the stuff that religious sisters are made of.
Extraordinary Ministers for the distribution of Holy Communion are properly trained and commissioned lay persons who serve renewable three-year terms. They are male and female parishioners who have been Confirmed. For each Mass several Ministers are needed, so that Holy Communion can be distributed in an orderly and timely manner. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society is enrolled in the Kroger Community Rewards Program.
Supporters must enroll on-line or at the store for us to receive the benefit of their support. Every time an enrolled supporter of St. Vincent de Paul of SJN uses his Kroger Plus Card, our SVdP earns rewards to support those in need in our area. The amount we receive is dependent on the number of enrollees who go to
www.krogercommunityrewards.com and select organization # 54537, St. Vincent de Paul/St. John Neumann.
Your support of our Grocery Card Program is a valuable source of funds for us. Please continue to purchase other cards as in the past, but if you shop at Kroger, you can only contribute by using your enrolled Plus Card.
