Fourth Annual Coats For Kids Drive – We thank all who contributed and helped with the purchases and deliveries of the 74 coats to children in SJNCS, Farragut schools, Jellico Elementary, and St Michael the Archangel Mission in Erwin. The total cost of these coats was $3,493.
Jelena Browning is the Knox County social worker who identifies the needy families in our Farragut schools. She wrote to us at the end of the school day after the coats had been delivered, “The middle school girl cried when we gave her a coat. She was thrilled to have something new just for her. Her mom also called to say thanks. She says they are struggling financially and knowing she had a winter coat was a weight off of her shoulders. The kids were so happy and proud to have these. I really appreciate what you all did for our community. Thanks so much!” And thank you to all who gave to make these coats a reality!
Our local Knights Council collects funds throughout the year for these Coats. With this drive we used every dollar that had been collected, so we start anew for Drive #5.
